Next workshop: ‘Election Night & Beyond’ Oct. 8-10 in St. Louis

“Election Night & Beyond” is the topic of MPI’s Oct. 8-10 workshop at the Millennium/Four Points Sheraton Hotel, St. Louis.

Sessions on the new populism, what makes good election coverage and a panel of local candidates discussing what they think should be covered during campaign season are a few of the sessions being planned. Sessions on the 2010 Census and redistricting and what’s beyond the 2010 election also will be on the program.

Start making plans to attend. Registration for member papers is $50 for the first person and $40 for each additional person. Registration for non-member papers is $75 for the first and $65 for each additional person from that newspaper. Registration can be made by e-mailing John Ryan, executive director,

Participants will also need to make reservations at the conference hotel, the Millennium, 200 S. Fourth St., St. Louis, 314-241-9500. The MPI rate is $106 a night. MPI will hold a welcoming reception at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, and the workshop will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct., 9, and conclude at noon on Sunday, Oct. 10.
